Hey friends!
It’s been a while, but I have been enjoying this new season of life, as a mother!! It’s crazy to think that Knox is 5 months old! When people say it goes by fast, it really does! I’m so grateful to be able to slow down and embrace all of these little moments with our little man and my husband!
Now that Knox is 5 months old, I thought it’s definitely time to share my baby shower from Saturday, March 25, 2018! I’m absolutely obsessed with how everything turned out! It might be my favorite detailed filled event I have done thus far.
When I found out I was pregnant September 2017, I knew immediately I wanted to have my baby shower at The Putnam Market! It’s seriously the perfect space for any small event! The light and bright feel is perfect, especially for photos! With the white walls and concrete floors you pretty much have a blank canvas to work with, which I loved so I could do light blue for a boy or blush if we had a girl and it wouldn’t clash with what is already there!
My favorite details were definitely the ones for my guests. I really wanted my baby shower not only to be for myself and Knox, but make my guests feel special and have a great guest experience! We had gift boxes placed on the light blue velvet covered tables at each place setting for my guests! We filled the boxes with an adorable custom sugar cookie from Sugar Momma Sweets to resemble the Knox design from our custom invitations from Rock Paper Sisters, a packet of blue Bachelor Button Flower Seeds from Floret Flowers, organic bar of soap from Etsy shop: RusticJoySoap, a clear coffee mug, and a kraft colored mini notebook with a white pencil tied with a light blue ribbon for baby shower games. Each item perfectly placed (by my two sweet nieces, they were the best helpers) in each gift box and tied with a light blue ribbon with hand torn edged “thank you for coming” gift tag from Rock Paper Sisters for a delicate and elegant touch.
My mom and I made a french inspired buffet with charcuterie boards, veggie filled basket, and gave a choice of ham or turkey sandwiches with each sandwich wrapped in wax paper and tied with twine. My guests were able to choose from several juices to make their own mimosa at the mimosa bar with handmade fresh flower stirrers! For dessert, we had stacked chocolate chip cookies tied with light blue ribbon, donuts, and a gorgeous buttercream (yes, it’s buttercream!) cake from Rock City Cake Company and I added a delicate hand-dyed silk ribbon from Illume Silks. I didn’t want dishes to clean but I still wanted every detail to look cohesive so I found these palm leaf disposable plates and wooden fork/spoon/knife set on Amazon, they looked so good!
FLOWERS! Give me all the flowers!! Even though I was 6 months pregnant at the time, I still wanted do all the flowers for my shower and with the help of my sweet mom that processed the tons of flowers which included a variety of 300 roses, 50 hydrangeas, 20 peonies, plus 42 bunches of filler flowers and greenery (I may have went a little overboard!). My ABSOLUTE favorite and MUST for my baby shower was the gorgeous flower bar! I designed it as my backdrop for opening gifts, but I surprised my guests at the end of the shower to help themselves and grab as many flowers as they would like and design their own flower bouquet to take home. We had Leah, the owner of The Putnam Market, wrap and hand tie every guests bouquet and finish each bunch of flowers with a “Lara-Jill’s Baby Shower” sticker from Rock Paper Sisters.
I wanted to make sure to add special touches throughout my shower. When guests came in we had them decorate a building block for Knox for our “guest book,” we now have this in his playroom and he loves them! I thought this would be a great keepsake for Knox and show how much he was loved before he was even here. The toy box we used to put gifts in was a Christmas gift to Knox from his Grandma & Grandpa, I thought it would be so special to include it (it’s a plus that it’s pretty)! The wooden Knox at the flower bar is over his crib in his nursery. If you are planning a baby shower or any event really, think of the things you already have you can use that will make your event that much sweeter!
I had Meredith Dickens Photography there to capture all of the fun! Sorry for the over excess of photos, but I couldn’t choose! They are all so good!! She not only did our baby shower, but our maternity and in-home newborn sessions! I can’t wait to finally share those with you soon!
xo,
Girl this is stunning!!! I’m originally from Hurricane but now live in Orlando, FL and I always visit The Putnam Market when I’m home. You did an amazing job and I love your work.
